Moments

Moments of Force = Force x Distance from pivot to the force.

/ = Divide

1. a) Ax0.40 = 0.30 x 2N
A(0.40) = 0.6N(0.30)
A(0.40)/0.40 = 2N(0.30)/0.40
A=1.5

1. b) 4N x 0.25m = 0.20 x B
4N(0.25m)/0.20 = 0.20B/0.20
5N=B
B = 5N

2. a) C(0.25) = 4N(0.15)+1N(0.40)
C(0.25) = 2N + 0.4N
C(0.25)/0.25 = 0.2.4N/0.25
C = 9.6N

2. b) 5N x 0.40 = 1N(0.20) = D(0.30)
2N = 0.2N + 0.3D
2N - 0.2N = 0.3D
1.8N/0.3 = 0.30/0.3
6N=D

3)1N/0.25 = 0.24W /0.25
w = 4N
